On holiday with children and teenagers in Brittany...DO IT!

This is a wonderful place for children. Not only because Le Petit Poisson Vert is so close to the beach, but also because we're situated on a quiet cul-de-sac, right next to the meadows. Playing outside is therefore no problem. There are plenty of toys, as well as equipment for the littlest ones, such as a baby bath, changing mat, crib, and high chair.

Children in Brittany

The garden is fenced and we have a playhouse, swing, sandbox, and plenty of games. Older children can explore the woods on their own or play hide-and-seek in and around the house. Click  here  for photos of the playhouse "Villa Kakelbont" and the rest...

And it's fun for teenagers too! I once wrote an article about it. We often get asked if it's fun enough for teenagers here... So, as someone with experience, I thought it was a good idea to address this. As parents of two teenagers (an 18-year-old boy and a 20-year-old girl, one super sporty and enterprising, the other a bit quieter but very creative), we're in the same boat as you!

First and foremost, vacation is family time, so just getting away together should be enough, haha. But anyway, that being said, we understand better than anyone that you need to keep those monkeys occupied, and that making memories and having fun together can make a vacation unforgettable.

Magical summer evening
No, we don't have a pool in the garden (a question from many prospective guests), but we live near the largest swimming and wave pool in the world... the sea! With a water temperature of around 18 degrees Celsius, crystal-clear sparkling water, white and pristine beaches, and impressive rock (climbing) walls instead of palm trees, you'd have to be incredibly unlucky not to have a great time here. Especially towards the end of the afternoon, when the sun slowly begins to set, the light changes, and the wind dies down, an ordinary sunny afternoon can suddenly transform into a magical summer evening...

Uh, can I eat that?
At low tide, the mudflats are a goldmine for anything with a shell. Barefoot, searching for cockles and mussels, oysters, periwinkles, razor clams (yep, for the teenage boys among us!), worms for fishing... Why not try something you've never eaten before? And we can even prepare them together, should any future kitchen princes or princesses feel so inclined. The daredevils among us needn't feel left out either, because hop on a wetsuit, weight belt, and dive in (without tanks, of course) in search of spider crabs. Who dares to catch the biggest one? If that's a bit daunting, the snorkeling here is also very beautiful.

Anything with a boat, board or sail
The Brittany coast is perfect for all kinds of water sports: surfing, stand-up paddleboarding, windsurfing, kiting, canoeing, sailing, rowing—you name it, you can find it somewhere. We have a fair amount of equipment, and if not, you can probably find it nearby.  We also now have a ramp and a rail, so why not throw the skateboard in the car at the last minute? You never know! Plouhinec also has had a fantastic skate park for a few years now, so go go go with scooters, skateboards, or BMX bikes.

For surfing (which is really good here, but shhh...don't tell too many people), we offer everything. Read more about it on  this  page.

There are several adrenaline-pumping spots nearby, such as a wakeboard park (West Wake Park in Inzinzac), several high-ropes courses (including Foret Adrenaline in Ploemel), canoe rentals (Saint Hélène), and the bouldering gym in Lanester. They can finally put that school French into practice!
Climbing in the forest in Brittany

Microadventure
From the garden, you can walk straight into the woods. Hiking trails wind around our house and are also great fun on a mountain bike. Our son knows most of the trails like the back of his hand and would love to show you the German Swimming Pool, the Split Stone, or the Frog Rock. If you go early in the morning, the deer will run along with you, and the buzzards will keep an eye on you like a natural drone.

Chilling in the hammock.
Our own (Dutch and French-speaking) children love teaching their peers the tricks of surfing, skimboarding, or bodyboarding, and are always up for a game of Monopoly, Werewolf, Kubb, or any other board game. Our garden is also perfect for endless sessions of hide-and-seek. Strangely enough, teenagers quickly feel outgrown, but once one starts, they quickly get the hang of it. Chilling in the hammock or drawing on a blanket on the grass is also a great way to unwind.

So, parents, don't worry about those teenagers getting bored, and roasting marshmallows on a campfire has never been considered too old for anyone, right?
